Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington has told Rock Sound about his new band Dead By Sunrise.

What started off as a solo project has turned into a full band also featuring Ryan Shuck and Amir Derakh formally of Orgy. Produced by Howard Benson (P.O.D., Skindred) ‘Out Of Ashes’ according to Chester is “a nice blend of electronic 80s pop mixed with a good 90s grunge rock vibe.”

He told Rock Sound: “One of the song I wrote for my wedding to be played at my wedding with my beautiful wife and at the same time another song was written about my divorce from my previous wife. It’s a very interesting record kinda showcasing the tearing down and rebuilding of my life.”

Writing for the record started back in 2005 when the vocalist realised some of the songs he was writing weren’t suitable for Linkin Park. Stylistically Chester says the album will appeal to Linkin Park fans but has plenty of diversity to demonstrate the singer’s vocal abilities.

“It is a very big sounding record so I hope people like it,” he continued. “I think there is enough stuff in terms of the heaviness and grimy, gritty vocals that Linkin Park fans will be wanting but at the same time there is a lot of great melodies and beautiful vocal work on there also.”

The band play an acoustic set in Las Vegas on July 04 and plan more shows later in the year. Expect the album to drop in September. Linkin Park meanwhile have begun work on the follow-up to ‘Minutes To Midnight’ with Rick Rubin.
